Close Up and Personal

amazing storyI am Adriana Lynn Blake, author of “Benjamin Bear’s Naughtiest Night Ever!”  I’ve been richly blessed over the past year, and my life is a miracle.  For 17 years prior, I was in a wheelchair.   Now, I’m riding a bicycle, and participate in 5k walks.  I have only God to thank for this incredible change, and I’m grateful every day.  Also, before June 2011, I was very heavy, weighing in at 315 pounds.  Now, I’ve lost 134 pounds, and couldn’t be happier!

I hope to be an inspiration to my son and daughter, now nearly 24 and 26, of what can be done when a person is determined.  However, I know every time I open my mouth about how I’ve emerged from the years of confinement, I amaze everyone within earshot.  My doctors are overjoyed!

My book is a result of that same sheer determination.  I dreamed of being an author from the time I was seven, standing amidst the children’s literature at the public library in Sparks, Nevada.  I imagined my name across the spines of a whole shelf of books then, and while I’m not there yet, I’ve started.  It only took me 40 years to realize my dream.  I had a few huge obstacles in my path, but have knocked them clean out of my way.  Everyone who knows me deeply, knows I’ve always had an author inside.  It was high time I let her out!; target=”_blank”><img alt="Amanda’s Books and More" src="

  1. Wow! You must be proud of your determination. You have an amazing amount of grit! Found you at the Make My Saturday Sweet hop.

    • Thank you! I had to have that, or I’d not have survived my youth. I am very proud of myself! I find that I smile a whole lot more now than ever before. Have a wonderful day, and may your Saturday be quite sweet!

  2. Hi Adriana! I love your introduction! Thanks for wanting to co-host and I understand that you are new at this kind of thing. Take care!

    • I can’t really take much credit for that, since God made me this way. It is just the way I’m wired, to transcend my life’s difficulties. Course, that was a long process, but I’m coming into my own now, in a way I couldn’t have imagined years ago. Thanks for your very nice comments! Hope your Saturday was very sweet, like you!
